About American Queen Voyages

American Queen Voyages, formerly American Queen Steamboat Company, cruises some of the most famous rivers in the United States: the Mississippi, Tennessee, Cumberland and Ohio rivers in the heartland, and the Columbia and Snake rivers in the Pacific Northwest. The line also cruises in Alaska, the Great Lakes and other coastal areas in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Modern comforts are blended with classic luxury on the line’s several paddle wheelers, which evoke the vessels of Mark Twain’s era with their white “wedding cake” exteriors, black fluted stacks and big red wheels. The vessels are outfitted in Victorian-era decor and staffed by all-American crews well-versed in hospitality. The company's flagship vessel and namesake, the American Queen, carries 417 passengers and is the largest ship offering overnight cruises on the Mississippi River.

Aside from the river ships, the line's fleet also includes expedition vessels and other small ships that promise an intimate, upscale experience.

Here are a few trip-enhancing features that are included in the price of your cruise.

Dinner and Drinks
The line offers regionally inspired meals crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Guests feast on Dungeness crab, fresh Gulf snapper, bananas Foster French toast and airy beignets, to name a few. Each ship has a traditional, elegant main dining room and a more casual alternative that provides alfresco seating. There also is 24-hour room service. Complimentary beer, wine and spirits are included throughout the cruise, as are cappuccinos, espresso, bottled water and other soft drinks.

Shore Excursions
Included shore excursions and optional premium experiences are provided in every port of call so that guests can explore picturesque riverfront towns, quaint seaside ports and lively metropolises. Local guides share stories and interesting facts about each destination.

Onboard Enrichment
Entertainment ranges from intriguing daytime lectures to nightly Broadway-style shows or musical performances of bluegrass, country, jazz, blues and rock-and-roll. On river sailings, for example, onboard historians called “Riverlorians” give daily presenations about the legends and lore associated with the waterway you're cruising. These enriching experiences allow you to fully immerse yourself in the journey.
